Who is Joe Lanza?
- Created the Bossa Nova
dance.
- 1951 Valentine Tango
Contest Trophy winner at The Hollywood Palladium.
- Authored over thirty
books ranging from children's stories to instructional books on dancing
and tennis.
- Musical composer of over thirty songs of 1950's vintage.
- Organized the first
succesful dance club in the US, the Hollywood Dance Club (1954).
- Documented the Dean
Collins Lindy Technique in his latest book "Strictly Swing The Dean
Collins Way."
- Lanza's "Triple
Jumping Jack" has never been duplicated since 1955.
- The ONLY acrobatic Swing
dancer in films. Danced in and choreographed over 50 stage,
television and movie musicals.
- At 87 years of age,
Lanza is still active as lecturer, author and dancer.

Valentino Tango Trophy 1952 Joe Lanza was the only acrobatic Swing dancer in rock and roll films in the 20th century. Lanza orginated the 'Back Flip Whip,' 'The Lanza Flip,' and the 'Triple Jumping Jack.' 'The Triple Jumping Jack' has never been duplicated. Lanza will introduce a new Lindy aerial this fall, 'The Lanza Butterfly.' Joe Lanza created, produced and directed an orginal musical show for ABC-TV in 1957, the 'Let's Dance Show.' It ran 50 hours of dance contests in Swing, Tango, Samba, and Cha-Cha. Lanza performed in sixty TV musicals and over twenty Hollywood films.Just a few of his credits include :
